Alicia joins us after four years at the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office in Minneapolis. As an assistant public defender, Alicia represented indigent clients through every stage of the criminal court process from arraignment to trial to probation violations. Alicia notably led litigation to curb police abuses and constitutional violations, including multiple successful motions to suppress evidence based on falsified evidence, the officer’s prejudice or credibility and more. Alicia supervises University of Minnesota Law School students on research projects and independent field placements. She has taught as a clinical adjunct professor at the Detainee Rights Clinic at the U of M Law School and also has served as a content developer and teacher coordinator at eClass Ltda. in Santiago, Chile. She is fluent in Spanish and has served as an interpreter/translator. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School and the University of Southern California.
