Our volunteers our critical to our work. Your time and unique talents help the ACLU-MN advance our mission to protect and expand civil rights and liberties for all Minnesotans. Below are some of the volunteer opportunities we have.

Volunteer types
- Office volunteer: Office volunteers assist affiliate staff with miscellaneous tasks such as making phone calls, filing, and mailings. These volunteers assist with the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the ACLU-MN running smoothly.
- Skill-based volunteer: Use your unique skills to help affiliate staff. This includes, but aren’t limited to, graphic design, photography, grant writing, donor research, and speaking multiple languages.
- Event volunteer: Event volunteers help assist day-of the events with set-up, take-down, handing out information, and engaging with community members. Events include, but are not limited to, tabling at community fairs, marching in parades, donor appreciation events, and fundraising events.
- Community organizer: Community organizing volunteers are the ACLU-MN’s boots on the ground volunteers that help canvas communities, provide educational materials, especially in Greater Minnesota, and help support the roll out of campaigns.
- Volunteer attorney: If you are an attorney who is interested in volunteering with the ACLU of Minnesota, please email a cover letter and resume to ACLU-MN Staff Attorney David McKinney at dmckinney@aclu-mn.org.
