Protesting for George Floyd and Daunte Wright? Know Your Rights

On March 8, 2021, jury selection will begin in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former MPD officer who killed George Floyd by kneeling on his neck. We expect protests and demonstrations throughout the City of Minneapolis, and we urge protesters to know your rights before you hit the streets.

Before you protest, study your rights and have a plan. Then bookmark this page before you go, so that you can access the information here easily if you need it for yourself or others.

Download the Mobile Justice app to document law enforcement activity you see or experience while you protest.

Have a printer at home? We have printable PDF Know Your Rights materials (including information in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong).
