If you're stopped by police, it's important to know what to do. Join us for a special workshop to Know Your Rights with Ismael Dore, ACLU-MN community engagement associate, and David McKinney, ACLU-MN staff attorney.
Being stopped by police is a stressful experience that can go bad quickly. We’ll describe what the law requires and also offer strategies for handling police encounters.
We want to be clear: The burden of de-escalation does not fall on individuals — it falls on police. However, you cannot assume officers will behave in a way that protects your safety or that they will respect your rights even after you assert them.
Don’t worry if you miss this free training. It will be available on Facebook and YouTube afterward.
